I mentioned in my last Food Diary that NUSH Foods invited me to particpate in their R&D (research & development) survey on new recipes for their Organic Low Carb Cakes.
That’s what I did on Friday morning, because Banana Nut Bread and Carrot Spice Cake sounded like a great breakfast idea to me! 🙂
I talked them into an exclusive discount for you by the way. Just use code LOWCARBTRAVELER (all caps) if you decide to order NUSH low carb cakes.
I’ve been trying & testing A LOT of new low carb foods lately…
There have been so many new companies pop up with awesome products for the keto community in the last few years, with a strong focus on healthier ingredients – giving us a lot more HEALTHY sugar free options than we ever had before.
When I first started eating low carb all of the “products” were icky, and the “low carb sweets” killed my guts. I’m SO glad to see new startups targeting a more health conscious low carb market!
As a low carb blogger I get to try a lot of these products before they really even hit the market, which means I can let you know whether they’re worth eating or not. 😉
I’m working hard to coordinate with those companies to get you special deals too, so I can bring you more options AND exclusive discounts.:)
Friday’s Low Carb Meals & Macros
I invited Aaron to join me for the taste-testing breakfast, because I eat A LOT of “low carb products” and I wanted his unbiased opinion of the NUSH Low Carb Cakes to go along with mine for the official survey.
Remember to use the code LOWCARBTRAVELER for a discount if you decide to order some! That not only scores you a discount, it let’s them know you came from my site.
I tried the original AND new Banana Nut and Carrot Spice cakes for breakfast, with butter and cream cheese – and fresh sliced strawberries:
That made for a delicious low carb breakfast! 🙂 I’ll give you a full review of these cakes in my next post, including what I thought of their new recipes.
For lunch I had another one of my favorite new low carb products, the Ginger Turmeric FatSnax Cookies. They have three flavors but the Ginger Turmeric is TOPS, my absolute favorite!!
I stacked it with cream cheese into a “cookie sandwich” and had half a cup (60 grams) of raw pecan halves with it. That made for an EASY, delicious & very filling lunch. 😉
For dinner I made eggs, my usual: 4 eggs scrambled in real butter with colby jack cheese. I use about 1/2 ounce of real cheese per egg. I like my eggs CHEESY!
All very easy meals, and only ONE skillet dirtied for the whole day. 😉
Here’s how my macros came out for those meals, including my 6 mugs of coffee (eek! lol) with Coffee-Mate Sugar Free Powdered Hazelnut Creamer…
Here’s my MyFitnessPal Food Diary for Thursday:

I’m back on a weight loss mission!
I had good chat with my friend Rosie this morning about how our bodies react to stress & negativity. I’ve had a lot of stress lately, mostly just work stress & pressure with deadlines, being off schedule, that kinda thing.
I’ve found myself letting the frustration turn into negative thinking that spills over into other areas of my life. And I’ve also found my weight “holding” and “fluctuating” which I’ve discovered is common when I’m stressed.
I’m practicing a “let it go” attitude along with some necessary deep-breathing, de-stressing exercises (lol)… and ready to release some stress, and also release some extra weight my body has been holding onto lately.
I haven’t been as active as usual either, so I aim to CHANGE that. Starting with an ambitious hiking adventure on Sunday to “sweat it out” and take a break from the work stress… and also get in some SERIOUS exercise. My body is craving it!! 🙂
How are things going with you?
I would love to hear how YOUR summer is going, and what you’re eating this week. What’s something NEW you’ve tried lately that you really like, or one of your favorite low carb meals that you eat on the regular?
I know a lot of you tried the NUSH Organic Low Carb Cakes when they were featured in a recent Keto Krate box. Have you tried any other flavors since then?
Speaking of, since the Keto Krate delivery is delayed this month, I’m testing out a new keto box company this week. 🙂 If you love options & variety, stay tuned – I’ll tell you all about it!;)
Best,
Lynn Terry,
aka @LowCarbTraveler
p.s. You can see more of the low carb foods I’ve been trying here, like the most recent: Low Carb Granola Comparison.
I really loved the Sticky Bars (the cranberry was amazing!) and the Keto Bars (I want to try their shakes next!), and the FatSnax Cookies too (Ginger Turmeric flavor only).
And of course the Zero Carb, Gluten Free SmartCakes have become a favorite!!
I’m also LOVING Good Dee’s new Snickerdoodle Cookie Mix and Low Carb Blondies Mix – those were FABULOUS. We’re making more Blondies this week. 🙂
Of course I have new favorites from things I’ve tried over the last year too, like the Low Carb Pancakes and Dee’s Low Carb Brownies (with my unique twist!).
Plus the Low Carb Everything Bread. I need to order more of that, because Aaron LOVES my Low Carb Grilled Cheese. 😉

ok-one week in and I am down 5 pounds. I will take it. I am in a zone so far and not wanting to eat off plan so I am a happy camper.
Lynn Terry says
That’s awesome, Amy! That’s the perk to being consistent too – it’s a natural appetite suppressant, and you’ll find your cravings disappear as well. Both of which are very helpful, because you never feel deprived! π

I’m not sure how I came across your site, but I’m so glad I did. I’m 50 yrs old with high glucose high cholersterol high blood pressure and weigh 228 at 5’4. I’m sure I’m a ticking time bomb. I’ve dieted since I was 13 and lost 100’s of pounds in 37 yrs. Atkins worked for me years ago, but it is so aged and I didn’t like some of the foods and couldn’t stick with it. I have a wicked sweet tooth. I have been pouring over your information and have found a way to work it to my likes. I started Saturday and my teen daughter is supporting me. I’m doing this for me and for my love for her. You see I’m her only parent and with her disabilities medical and intellectual she needs me. I just want to thank you for everything you’re doing by posting and sharing all your information. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. Kelly

Dearest Kelly – thank you SO much for your kind words and for taking the time to reply here. Your note truly made my day. π I am here, with you and for you, and totally love that you are taking control of your health. KUDOS to you!! π
If you ever have any questions, or need a good low carb replacement for something, anything – let me know how I can help. You’ll be SO happy you did this for yourself, and for your daughter. I know I am!
And as a parent, I can tell you from experience… allowing your children to see you change your life, find your inner control and inner strength, and become happier / healthier / stronger – will change THEIR life too. In so many ways. It’s the BEST example you can set. π *cheers*
