When I first started eating Low Carb, I picked up some Torani Sugar Free Syrup at my local grocery store to use in my coffee. Being a coffee lover, I tried several combinations of products trying to get it just right. Prior to going Low Carb I used 2% milk and white sugar in my coffee. So step one that first week was finding a sweetener and a carb free coffee creamer (I now use Heavy Whipping Cream).
I chose Torani Sugar Free Syrup because that’s all my store carried in flavored syrups, and they only carried small bottles (around 16oz I believe). They were often out too, so I would buy several bottles at a time when they did have them in stock.
Then I discovered Netrition, thanks to my mother! She uses the Davinci Syrup, so I decided to give that a try with my first order.
The bottles at Netrition are MUCH larger than I buy locally: 25.4 oz. And at the same price I paid for the small bottle, even! They also offer tons more flavors, and they carry the Syrup Pump for only $1.99 (makes for less messy use of the syrups).
As you can see in the picture, I like the Sugar Free French Vanilla. And after testing them both, I definitely like the Torani brand better. Not that the DaVinci syrup is bad, it’s just different – and I prefer the Torani in my coffee. I still have a third to a half bottle of the Davinci syrup left, which I’ll probably use up in recipes instead of in my coffee.
Both brands comes in all kinds of fun sugar-free flavors like Pumpkin, Peppermint, Chocolate, Hazelnut and tons more. They work great in dessert recipes, as well as flavored drinks.
I would love to hear which brand is YOUR favorite, and the creative ways you use these sugar free syrups. Feel free to share links to your favorite recipes that use DaVinci or Torani Sugar Free Syrup too! 😀
You can get the Torani Sugar Free Syrup and the DaVinci Syrup in a variety of flavors at Netrition. It’s much cheaper than buying it locally, and they have more flavors! You can also order as many bottles as you like for only one $4.95 shipping fee. 😉

Hi Lynn –
I have never heard of Torani until reading your post. I am, however, a big fan of Davini’s sugar free syrups. They use them at my local coffee shop (that’s how I found out about them). I absolutely love it. It make me feel like I am having the same thing Scott is having without having to worry about the side effect of having sugar.
I’m adding Davini to my list! π

Do you know what these products are using as a sugar substitute? Thanks- Rhonda

They’re both sweetened with Splenda. I should have mentioned that, so thanks for asking! They don’t have the icky aftertaste though, so it made for an easy transition from sugar when I started eating low carb. π

Hi everyone… First Congrats to all that have lost weight! I love both flavors and use them both. DaV inci does carry some flavors that Torani does not. Currently I am hooked on the Toasted Marshmallow in my hot chocolate. I am not a coffee person, however I love hot chocolate. I also use the flavored Sugar Free flavors in my protein shakes! I am a weight loss patient (6 yrs ago… from 325 lbs to 135 lb and size 26 to a 4/6! ) These have been a wonderful addition to my daily life I no longer feel deprived of anything that I crave… Just a little imagination.. some creativity… and POOF a new protein shake to enjoy is born! Everyone loves my protein shakes and I have actually given “recipies” to the dietician to pass out at the hospital post op surgical groups after several requests for them. Somedays I “cheat” and have 3 shakes instead of the 2 I normally have…… HUMMMM typing this makes me want a banana split protein shake… off to the kitchen… YUMMY Thank you to both companies! I do however tend to order from Torani more… only because they send me “free shipping” emails… and Davinci does not.. All that shipping cost equals another bottle of YUM… in my cabinet……

Great creative ideas for the syrups, Susan! You should consider putting together a recipe guide for your protein shakes, to share with the world π

Hi – could I get the measurements you use for the coffee creamer using whipping cream and Torani – I just bought the Torani sugar free in Vanilla, Caramel and Chocolate – so would love to be able to make my own at home.
Lynn Terry says
I just put a dash of cream in (to suit), and a teaspoon or two of the syrup – again, to suit. I’ve never really measured it out, but it’s probably a tablespoon or so of each. That is in a larger coffee mug of course – not a 6-8 oz “true coffee cup”.
