I’m still steadily losing weight this week. 🙂 I’m also still sick, but feeling much better than I was. I saw my doctor yesterday and she is running bloodwork on me, so we’ll see how that goes.
Meanwhile I’m still struggling with some odd symptoms, including insomnia and anxiety – which really stinks. 😛
Stress and lack of sleep really affect my weight loss. I woke up at 3am this morning (after taking Melatonin, no less! 😐 lol, grr!) weighing 152.8 pounds.
I was up for a couple of hours, but finally managed to sleep almost two more hours – and woke up weighing only 151.6 pounds after having more rest. 🙂
On top of everything else going on, I had a dentist appointment yesterday to get a top molar removed. I suppose it’s best to do something that miserable… while you’re already miserable though, lol. I mean, why ruin a GOOD day with that?! haha
In my last Low Carb Food Diary I shared what I ate on Saturday and Sunday. Below are my low carb meals for Monday and Tuesday. I’ve lost another .6 pounds since then, for a total of 3.8 pounds lost in the last 5 days. Not bad at all considering I’ve been stressed, haven’t been sleeping well – or much at all – etc. 😉
I also have an NSV (Non-Scale Victory) to share with you… that does NOT feel very victorious at all. 😛 It feels more victorias. I’ll explain in a second, lol…
Monday’s Low Carb Meals
Here are the 4 meals I ate on Monday. For breakfast I had my usual strawberries, pecans & cottage cheese – plus an Atkins bar. Lunch was leftover grilled chicken & veggies (broccoli / cauliflower). I wasn’t feeling well, so for dinner I just had my “low carb cereal” again. And later that night I got hungry, and finished off the last two grilled chicken breasts (leftover takeout) – and dipped those in mayo.
Actually I also had a “Big Hot Ham & Cheese” from Hardee’s (minus the bun, just ham & cheese), which you can see in my MyFitnessPal Food Diary below.
The day came out to:
Calories: 2208
Net Carbs: 25
Macro Ratios: 65% Fat / 30% Protein
I drank 64 ounces of water on Monday. I was feeling incredibly thirsty (and icky) all day long, with a low grade fever I couldn’t kick with any amount of advil. 😛
Tuesday’s Low Carb Meals
Yesterday morning I had my usual breakfast of pecans, strawberries & cottage cheese. I had a VERY full day. I got myself together and picked up X-rays from my local dentist, then headed to my doctor’s appointment – where they documented all my random symptoms and ran multiple tests.
After that I headed into the city to run a few errands before my dentist appointment, and had a Peanut Butter Granola Atkins Bar on the way.
I had three stops to make, one of which was to get new measurements taken – so while I was in the mall I popped into GNC and grabbed some of their Strawberries & Cream Shakes. I knew I was going to need them for later. 😛
After my errands I went to Chili’s Grill & Bar and sat down to enjoy a nice lunch and wind down for a few. My lunch was FABULOUS! 🙂
I ordered grilled salmon (plain, please) with broccoli and asparagus on the side. I also ordered a side of their Avocado Ranch Dressing – which is so delicious to dip your veggies in. 🙂 That dressing is 1 net carb for a 2 tbsp serving.
The entire meal came out to 6 net carbs. I only ate half the asparagus (I cut the stalks in half and ate the good ends, lol) and didn’t eat the tomatoes. So it 5 net carbs for the greens, and 1 net carb for the dipping sauce.
Next was my dentist appointment. I had my back upper tooth extracted. I lost the lower tooth maybe 10 years ago, so there was no saving the one above it – and getting it removed was long overdue. Of course, that meant “a liquid low carb diet” followed by soft foods last night and today. That’s never fun! lol…
I didn’t feel well by the end of that crazy day anyway, so I just had one of the GNC Strawberries & Cream Shakes for dinner – and mostly just to put something on my stomach so I could take Advil liquidgels and go to bed. Their Total Lean shakes are delicious, by the way. They’re also a large 14 ounces, and only 3 net carbs each.
Those definitely came in handy after my dental work.
It was hard enough to “drink my dinner” with a mouthful of gauze. 😛
Here’s my MyFitnessPal Food Diary for yesterday:
The day came out to 1475 calories, 20 net carbs, 68% fat.
NSV (Non-Scale Victory)
I mentioned having measurements taken.
It turns out I’ve gone down a cup size! 😯 Ack, lol!
The upside to that is I got to buy new bras yesterday. 🙂
I’m officially a 36C (more like a C+ lol). I haven’t seen that size since my early 30’s – which, just so you don’t have to guess, would be like a decade ago. 😛
I headed home with my fat face, my numb jaw, a big needle mark and bruise on my right arm, new bras (yay! lol), and a 4-pack of low carb strawberry shakes…
I stopped by the pharmacy on the way home to pick up the Melatonin my doc suggested.
It didn’t work very well last night… I really hope it works better tonight.
I had a one hour drive home from the city, so I did my “CARdio” while I was driving – while my jaw was still numb. 😛 Smart, right? haha I knew I’d be in NO shape to work out AT ALL later. 😉 I just turn up my favorite tunes and do a variety of core, arm, thigh & butt exercises. This works best on the highway (with cruise control, lol) but I can even manage it in traffic. I just have to ignore the looks. 🙂 heh…
I look forward to feeling better. I still feel a little heat, but not a consistent low grade fever like I had for over a week. This seems to be passing finally, whatever it is.
Meanwhile I’m trying to eat healthy, rest when I can, and take good care of myself… because I head out for Orlando next week! 🙂
What about you – how are things going on your end??
Best,
Lynn Terry,

I know you are still kind of young but the insomnia might be Peri-menopause. I was lucky that when I went through “the change”, I had very few symptoms but the one I did have was insomnia. Had trouble falling asleep and staying asleep.
It did get better but I still don’t sleep as well as I did before the big M. I took Melatonin too but it doesn’t work right off the bat. You have to take it for a few weeks before you notice a difference. At least that was the way it was for me.

Hi Cathy,
I assume any hormone level issues will show up in the tests they ran at the doctor’s office this week. She doesn’t expect to find anything new, given I just had blood work done 3 months ago… but we’ll see.
I know the Australians take Melatonin for jetlag when they fly here, and swear by it, so I always assumed it worked immediately. I’ve heard other people say they couldn’t feel any affect from it at all. I’ve never had any trouble sleeping, so this is really odd for me – and no fun at all. π
I have always enjoyed a lot of coffee, but I’m drinking less this week – and bought Decaf yesterday to enjoy in the evenings. That doesn’t seem to be making much of a difference, but I’m willing to at least try anything that MIGHT work. π
The insomnia is more a result of the other issues I’m having it seems. I have an upset stomach, I’m shaky / jittery. It’s the “panic feeling” that keeps waking me up – which is odd, since my life is pretty calm and I can’t put my finger on a reason to feel panicky.
I went through this in early January for about a week, and then again when I had the stomach virus at the end of January. Many of the same symptoms then.
I had a persistent low grade temp all last week, but that seems better – I’m still slightly up (half a degree) and just can’t get comfortable (to warm or too cool) – which is better than the chills/sweats lol. Ugh.
I hope I either get some answers, or it just PASSES – and soon. π This has been quite miserable…

Lynn,
Glad you are coming to Orlando!
Are you having a meetup for us who live around here? Where and when?
L says
Hi Lynn,
For the general anxiety feeling, first be sure to rule out any medical. If all is good, then get yourself some organic Lavendar essential oil, and ‘cup and sniff’. I know many people who experience a wash of calm upon doing this. Hope this helps you, too.
Lynn Terry says
Thank you so much for that tip, L π I am still waiting to hear back from my doctor, but I suspect this is viral. I do feel some better tonight, which is giving me hope. π
I haven’t made any official plans for Orlando. I am hopeful I’ll get over this and be able to go. At the moment I am in no shape to travel, lol. Fingers crossed! I’ve really been looking forward to this trip, and catching up with all of my friends there.
I’ll keep you posted. I would love to be totally over this, make my trip, and plan a meetup to share a low carb meal. π

Hi ! I wondered if we can have you be a friend on myfitness pal?
