Love a good challenge? So do I! 🙂
The end of the year is a time most people coast through, ditch their goals, and put on extra pounds.
It’s easy to do. I don’t want EASY! I don’t want to be “the norm” either. I want to be my absolute BEST. I’m going to challenge myself to end this year in the best possible shape I possibly can!
Are you with me?! 🙂
If not, you can wait until the next 90 Day Low Carb Challenge begins on January 1st. That’s totally fine. But if you want to slide into the New Year with a serious sense of accomplishment, weighing less & feeling GREAT, join us for this year-end mini-challenge!
You can get all the details at:
90DayLowCarbChallenge.com
Or you can just sign up here real quick by entering your email address, then confirm your address, and you’re in! You’ll receive the link to our group and you’ll be ready to join us on Monday. 🙂
I’m aiming to make the last 18 days of this year count. In addition to eating super low carb, I am committed to working out every single day for these last 18 days!
Stay tuned as I’ll be sending you my daily low carb food journals, and I’ll include my workouts in each diary as well. Those will arrive in your inbox as soon as they’re published if you’re signed up for this blog or for the challenge. You’ll get super easy ideas you can follow that way. 🙂
My goal for the challenge is simple: 20 net carbs a day max, 70% fat minimum (that means at least 70% of my daily calories will come from healthy fats). I am going to eat super simple, as few ingredients as possible (real food), and work out every single day – varying my exercise over the 18 days of this challenge.
Those are MY goals. What are yours? If you’re joining in, leave a comment and state your goals for this challenge!
To learn more about macros and what to count (and why), see: Macronutrients Made Easy.
You should set up MyFitnessPal if you haven’t already, and here’s the hack I use to make it count Net Carbs: MyFitnessPal Net Carb Hack.
If you have any questions, leave a comment and let me know. 🙂 *cheers*

I’m ready, only thing I blow it today. But it’s on starting tomorrow. Thanks for encouragement and support.
Lynn Terry says
I’m glad you’re joining in, Sharon! π We officially start on Monday, but if you start tomorrow (Sunday) you’ll be a day ahead. That would be great! I started back today, to get a head start… because I blew it last night, lol. π *cheers*
Sharon says
That’s great news. I’ll be ahead. Thanks again.
Lisa says
I’m in for the 18 day mini challenge! I’m just starting the low carb woe and I like the goal of working out everyday for 18 days.
Lynn Terry says
Awesome, Lisa! π If you have any questions about getting started with the low carb diet, just let me know.
Joan schmidman says
I signed up! Using this as the push to add exercise on a regular basis, because I always feel better and more energized when I do. Not going to weigh myself, I prefer to use measurements, as I don’t want to give me any reason to be discouraged. 1 1/2 inches off waist in month and a half, so I’m a happy camper. I eat good breakfast about 9:00 and then dinner at 6:00. Not hungry for lunch, which I find amazing. Makes it easy to follow the woe.
Joan schmidman says
That 4 1/2 inches off waist!!!!!
Joan schmidman says
I’m 72
Lynn Terry says
That’s awesome, Joan! π Measurements are much more accurate anyway, especially if you’re exercising – as you’ll lose fat and gain muscle. Which is ideal. π
Janice says
Joan I’m 72 also. Been doing this since april. Some set backs and weight coming off slower than I’d like but hang in there. It really makes you feel so much better. And if you have health issues, it really helps there too. Feel free to email any time. Good luck
Roye says
I really need this motivation and diet plan, thank you. I’m 71 and don’t exercise much :p but I have a exercise bike in my livingroom that I’ve been getting on. I can only do 10:00 mins at a time and am doing it twice a day, 20:00 min a day and trying to work up to more. I lost 20lbs when I over a year ago when I started the Keto diet but sighhhhhh unfortunately have gained it all back. So my goal is to at least lose the 20lbs I have gained back and ideally lose another 10 lbs.
Thanks Lynn.
Lynn Terry says
That’s great, Roye – I say any movement at all is GOOD! π That’s a great goal. I’m glad you’re joining us!
Tish says
I think I am finally ready, I have been trying to do this for months. In September, I passed 2 kidney stones, in October I had to have a laproscopy surgery and December 3rd I had a hysterectomy. I seem to finally have all my health isssues behind me. I hope to become motivated again and prove to myself that I can do it. My doctor asked me what I thought about gastric bypass when I saw him in September, I told him that I don’t think anything about it, I have to prove to myself that I can do this!
Thanks for listening,
Tish
Lynn Terry says
Geez, Tish – what a rough few months you’ve had! π Ack! I’ve been there, hysterectomy included. As for the weight loss surgery, we had a good discussion on that here: http://www.travelinglowcarb.com/5751/weight-loss-surgery-discussion/ It’s a really sensitive topic for a lot of people. The thing is, you end up having eat low carb for life after anyway… so why not just do that and avoid ANOTHER surgery. π *cheers*
Marlene Russell says
I would like to join in on Monday challenge to excersise everyday for the last 18 days of the year. I started low carb on September 8, 2015 at 192 and today I weigh 174 it’s slow going but feel so much better.
Lynn Terry says
I’m a slow loser too, Marlene. I’m glad you’re joining us for this BIG push at the end of the year. π It’ll be FUN! *cheers*
Shelley says
I’m in! I’m in Oz so I’ll be a day ahead too. Great way to end the year. Thanks for the encouragement.
Lynn Terry says

Shelley says

Marcie says

I am doing this challenge. Currently I weigh 269.4. My goals are to follow way of eating, drink water, and use my exercise bike each day. I will start with 4 times each day. I will begin with 5 minutes and increase one minute each day until I can do 20 minutes at a time.
Lynn Terry says
Awesome! We have a GREAT group for this challenge. It’ll be FUN to do this together. π You should have the email now, with the links to the starting weigh-in & challenge details. See you there. π *cheers*
Karen says
I’m in!
Christy says
I have lost my motivation.. I need something to focus on, maybe this small goal of 18 days will jumpstart me! I have gained (UGH!!!!) 5lbs since Sept and I am beating myself up over it and falling more into a rut. I am IN!!!! Let’s do it!
Lynn Terry says
It’s easy to let your discouragement talk you into staying OFF the course, but then it just adds MORE discouragement. Been there – it’s a vicious cycle. π It doesn’t make any logical sense, but we have all gone through it, lol.
18 days is short, and it gives you something positive and exciting to focus on as the year ends. Something to be proud of when you look back! I’m so glad you joined in. π *cheers*
Barbara says
Joined the 90 day challenge, got off track and gained 9 lbs. Would like to lose the 9 pounds. I’m in.

Shon M. says

Vera says

Janice says
Ok don’t know how this happened but I dropped 6 lbs since I last weighed in (last month) starting weight today 199. Finally in wonderland. Whoo hoo!!!!!! This is going to be a great 18 days.
Suze says
I’m finishing 2015 hovering at/ close to my goal weight, for the first time in decades.. Lost 75 pounds in the last year+ and now I am working to maintain- A whole different energy, Equal to or sometimes greater than the weight-loss mindset. There is no going back to sugar, junk carbs and other triggers. Accountability is my lifeline. My goal is to stay within 2-3 lbs of my goal weight/ under 20 carbs during the week, with a little extra on the weekends, if my weight is stable. Also I intend to log my “free “meals and days. I know that I will stay much more in line that way. So grateful for this Group of like-minded LC-ers!
Lynn Terry says
Congratulations, Suze – what an accomplishment! π That’s awesome!
sue says
My goal is to get back on track. I was doing so well and BAM! now I can’t get it back together. I’m 57 years old, I already workout every day, lift weights, endurance, ride my bike, walk, etc. I can’t add more exercise but I can eat better. I want to have 10 pounds off by the first, that would put me down below 200 pounds and I haven’t seen that in a long time. I weighed in this morning, 210, a couple weeks ago, before I fell to bad eating, I was at 205. I had lost 18 pounds and gained some back. Lesson learned.
Lynn Terry says
I haven’t had any success losing weight just by working out, even when I was in the gym 4-5 days a week. I felt more tone and had more overall strength, but the only way I could lose weight or get FAT off my body was by eating low carb.
I always thought a great exercise routine would mean I could eat pretty much anything I want (within limits, of course) but that hasn’t been the case for me either. π
Lonna says
I’m in starting today. I’m still recovering from foot surgery so will do my best for workouts as I’m still not 100% recovered
Lynn Terry says
Take care of that foot, Lonna! π Here is an upper body arm workout I am going to do this week: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i299Oy_zRz0 That may be better for you right now too. I’m glad you’re joining in with us!!
